Segment Marketing Director

Our life science corporate client provides clinical researchers with the technology necessary to chase the next breakthrough in public health.  Due to growth, they are searching for a Segment Marketing Director to join the marketing team.  To advance the company’s growth, a resourceful business-to-business Director of Marketing is needed who will help build, develop, and activate a new team of segment marketers, who are aligned to key vertical markets and buyer personas.  Artfully balancing high-tech with high touch, this newly created Director of Marketing role will orchestrate concurrent segment marketing campaigns, leveraging best practices for personalization, segmentation, and automation, and utilizing a curated mix of digital, media, face-to-face, and direct marketing tactics, to accelerate the client decision journey in increasingly complex and consultative sales processes.

* Recruit, onboard, direct, and continuously develop a team of strategic marketers in the strategy, execution, and optimization of multi-channel, content-rich marketing campaigns, targeting key geographies, market verticals, and buyer personas.

* Build highly aligned, performance-based relationships with Sales and Customer Success and other teams to mine for market, customer, and competitive insights, gain input for campaign and content development, and collect feedback on tools and resources.

* Lead the development of go-to-market plans and summary presentations for targeted segments, geographies, and personas and prepare robust campaign and content briefs and base copy to support the development of white papers, case studies, presentations, digital assets, infographics, and success stories.

* Expand company’s thought leadership position within key vertical segments by building proactive relationships with industry experts, associations, publishers, and podcasters and company’s subject-matter-experts.

* Develop and execute best practice processes for marketing events including virtual and in-person trade shows, regional road shows, and thought leadership webinars, including topic and speaker selection, content development, logistics, budgeting, measurement, and end-to-end promotion and lead nurturing strategies.

* Support a culture of data-driven decision-making and continued improvement in the quality and quantity of marketing generated and influenced leads, by using best practice metrics (engagement, lead generation, marketing influence, market share)


* 10+ years of well-rounded B2B marketing experience in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably for a SaaS company.

* 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably with proven experience of building and developing direct reports in a remote marketing structure.

* Bachelor’s degree, emphasis in Marketing preferred (or equivalent experience)

* Familiarity with clinical trials is a plus.

* Travel required up to 20% with ability to lift up to 20 pounds

* Required to participate in frequent meetings using virtual technology like Google Meet or Zoom

* A strong portfolio and a proven track record of delivering high-quality content at scale in the technology healthcare industry

* Expertise in complex messaging hierarchies that translate across traditional and digital platforms, channels, verticals, and segments

* Strong familiarity with sales operations and marketing technology, including buying cycle stages and lead scoring using Marketo/Hubspot and WordPress

* Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, demand generation, brand, sales and business development; along with a demonstrated track record of success and performance.

* Able to combine soft skills with strong critical thinking to scrutinize results, determine root causes, and make timely, educated recommendations for maximizing results

* Possess a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and resourcefulness

* Ability to exercise agility within a rapidly growing organization that serves a dynamic life sciences sector

* Familiarity with the technology sales cycle and life sciences industry

* International marketing experience – you’re curious about nuances in how healthcare systems operate across the globe and hyper-focused on conveying relevance and competence across geographic boundaries.
